Social Justice
The Illinois Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (IL ACC) Social Justice Committee is dedicated to advancing the ACC's health equity vision: to achieve a culture of health where every person can realize their full cardiovascular health potential as a fundamental right.
We are committed to addressing systemic and historical injustices that contribute to disparities in cardiovascular health. Through community-building, education, and “advocacy in action”, we strive to create meaningful change and improve outcomes for all.
We envision a just and healthier Illinois, where everyone has equitable access to high-quality cardiovascular care. By tackling health disparities, we aim to lead the way in shaping a future where all individuals in Illinois can thrive with dignity.
Our Goals
- Create a safe, inclusive space for dialogue and learning about health equity.
- Strengthen community engagement, empower patients, and build lasting trust with health professionals.
- Advance “advocacy in action” by delivering education, preventive tools, and resources to underserved and marginalized communities.
We welcome all who are passionate about equity and justice in cardiovascular care to join our efforts. With the ACC’s strong commitment to health equity, we hope to continue to grow these efforts and walk together in the spirit of shared humanity.

1) Community Engagement at the Kroc Center – repeats monthly on the second Saturday of each month. Upcoming 2026 dates include: February 21, March 14, April 11, May 16, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12
